hi,
ive got a few visual things i want to get done on the car before i touch the engine anymore... 1.clear indicators: how do i get the back ones done? as far as i can see there isnt a way of removing the tail lights...also is it easier to make them myself somehow or just buy them? 2. Respray: ive got a friend who can do it for $1000 i just need to provide the paint, i want to keep it white but put the grey SVO strip along the bottom how much will the paint cost and where is the best place to get it? and what is the grey colour called? 3. replace the bumbers and mirrors: want to get ones that mach the color of the car, is it better just to paint the ones on there (the bumpers are grey plastic and the mirrors are black)? Thanks in advance EDIT: also wanting to get it lowered....its stock as a rock and i was wondering how many inches to get it lowered front and back? Last edited by JUZXR8; 07-05-2005 at 08:23 PM. |

As far as I know, you can't make the EA taillights clear. You need to change to EB-ED lights and do the clear tail light mod....I have done this to my car but unless u are patient (unlike me) don't bother as you will end up with a hack job.
White paint will be relatively cheap compared to metallic colours. 4ltrs of metallic basecoat will usually be around $300-$400. So white would be cheaper than that...I'd imagine closer to $150-$200 for 4lt. The good thing with white is that cause it's a solid colour you won't need to apply clear coat. The grey paint might come in basecoat form so you will need to clear coat it. Sorry I don't know what it's called. Ask Ford for the paint code. Make sure you get a good quality paint, don't buy sh*tty Paintmobile brand stuff cause it's cheap...it's cheap for a reason. Some good brands are DuPont, PPG and Glasurit. I'd only replace the mirrors and bars if they are beyond repair or fit badly. You can always get the Taiwanese bars for about $120 new. They are ok. You'd be pushing to find a excellent condition second hand bar at a wreckers. If your existing bars only have a few dents or scratches, crack out the body filler and fix them up, then prime it all and they'll be fine. |

Yeah, and they were probably just the after market EA ones that the 'customizer' left out in the sun!

Don't go the Taiwanese bars. Biggest mistake I ever made.
They're too wide, fit badly, don't want to line up, the shape is warped like a sad face and it goes down on one side. I'll be replacing it with a good genuine second hand one after the cooler's done. This one's shithouse. Sundeep |

If you know somebody that has an account with ford they should be able to get a genuine bar for around 180 NEW.
Dont bother with aftermarket ones they are shit, the colour of the grey goes with in about 12 months if you leave the origional strip at the top. Paint depends on how good of a job you want done, you could go and srip every pannel repair then high build prime it, rub that back, then a serfice primer on top of that just to make sure no scratches and marks come through and then paint over that. you will be up for around 1000 just for paint.
