Default price advice

I went to pedders suspension today and got a safety check done on my car they quoted me a shitload of money i want to know if there overcharging etc ,
here is what they found was wrong

Front

Shocks - working unevenly - $310
Ball joints - lower ball joints worn - $130
Upper bushes - worn - $215
New cam cas kit - $245
Lower bushes - worn - $215
stearing gear - New power steering rack , Leaking - $440
Brake rotors lipped - $170

Rear

Upper bushes - worn - $100
lower bushes - worn - $120
Lateral arms - Watts linkage bushes worn - $65

For all this i was quoted a total of 2810 dollars , 940 of that being labour , should i look elsewhere or is that about normal

I'd get it checked elsewhere. It has been stated by others dealing with Pedders in the past that they have been told shocks need replacement when they were only fitted elsewhere a couple of weeks prior. Basically, the "free" checks are a way to bring in new business by telling customers they need work done on things that don't need work done.

Get a 2nd / 3rd opinion. I'm sure Pedders will find problems with a new car.....

A friend had the same sorta quote. Was after a similar inspection / report. They quoted $3000 worth of work on a $3000 car...

They called him a week later after he said "too much" to reduce the labour price by $450.....

Mate, take the car to Fulcrum suspension. I can tell you they are THE SUSPENSION specialists, I know most insuance companies use them when suspension work is needed and they are also a site sponsor.

Pedders suck,
One that was recommended to me is a mechanic aswell, tried to charge me $280 to replace the coil in an EL2....
Gave me a run down of prices which included, Booking fee - $20 Raise car on hoist - $20, Spark plugs - $50 (for 6!) Electronic tune up - $90
And after all that, the timing was out, they had the car for 2 weeks and put 120k's on it....
Im going back to the old guy i always used to, he does it for cash and is a great bloke...
