Default Series 1 to series 2/3 question

hey, i was wondering whether a series 2/3 bonnet and boot would just swap over with a series 1 bonnet and boot. is this possible or will there be too much problems with it. i take it that the boot might not be too difficult but the bonnet might need different parts so it will

has any one else done this to there series 1 falcon?

thanks neil

I would immagine you'll need a bonnet and grille. I don't believe there is any other difference. I could be proven wrong though. ;)

100% correct you just need the right grill and no dramas

You need bonnet and latch. You don't really need the grille, as the grille just fills a void, and the AU1 grille will fill 3/4 of it - yes, it would look funny, but it's more of a want than a need. Without the right latch, though, you will never get the bonnet open again once you shut it.

There is no difference between an AU1 boot and AU2/3 boot. The trim attached to the boot is different, but you can change that without needing to change the whole boot.

Why do you ask?

Actually, there is - not the part attached to the bonnet, but the handle attached to the radiator support panel. The AU2 one is taller and a different shape. If you don't believe me, fit an AU2 bonnet using the AU1 latch, and then try opening it. (If you do try this, I would recommend NOT fitting the grille if you ever want to get your bonnet open again)

This is true, wrecker sold me an AUII one for my XR and I couldn't close the bonnet because of the handle.

Just swap the latches over. The old one is held in with 2 bolts, and the cable clips in - undo the bolts, lift the assembly up and unclip the cable, then install the new one.
