Hi Everyone,
I've just bought an AU3 XR6 privately (I did have an AU2 XR until a commodore owner decided my car on the side of the road was the perfect brake ^_^) and I was only given one key. I work with the previous owner, and they have lost the second, plus they have no remotes. So, is it possible to train my old AU2 remote, with my current key, to the AU3? I've heard that you need 2 keys, I was wondering if I could use the same key twice? (I know it's a bit dodgey but I'm after a quick fix). And if I go that way, if/when I manage to get a new key and remote will I be able to add them to the cars security system? Cheers in advance |

Questions a bit strange. But i'll do my best. You should be able to train the remote to your AU3 as long as its the 4 button.
I think its press demister button 5 times then press remote unlock. It is in the owners manual. With the key , you obviously can get the car to recognise key but it will obviously not turn locks as cuts will be incorrect. Even if your lucky enough to have the ability to recut key you still need 2 keys to program manually. Otherwise you will have to visit Ford or a good locksmith to program key. You can get keys on fleabay for about 20 buck , then need programming and cutting.

These may help, but bosman is right. You need 2 keys to train another key. AU-3 keypads may be added at any time, you only need 1 key for this.

It's actually irrelevant how many keypads are "trained". You could have none trained at all, so long as you have the matching key to the ingition barrel to iniate the training procedure.
A very valid question and yes you can get that old AUII keypad to work on your AUIII XR6.

Cheers guys I got it done straight away. I was more worried about needing more than one key to do it, for some stupid reason I thought I'd seen it written somewhere you need two keys to train one remote.
Don't mind me I'm just insane... ![]() |
