motor was the only mag i read during my research into buying the xr5 that gave it a bad review. No suprise that they found the mazda 6 better.
I live in the pilbara region of western Australia and drive on some pretty rough roads and do not have a problem with the suspension or the ride. |

Not meant as a negative, but the suspension is certainly aimed at the 'performance' end of the scale and depending on who's driving I can fully understand why some people would be critical of it in some circumstances. It can be very jittery over rough roads and the conti's howl like a cut cat when they are near their limit (its a very high limit BTW) I thought the report was fairly well balanced. Not everybody is going to warm to the XR5 and that suits me (as an owner) just fine. There is no denying it is the best ‘performance’ orientated car in its class

that was something strange with my car...
it didn't come with conti's but bridgestone potenzas re050 still a damn good tyre, but did anyone else get bridgestones? |

I've just sold a 6MPS. It made the XR5Ts I tested feel like a pneumatic citroen....the ride was the thing I was most impressed with
Tis the second time Motor have banged on about it - guess it was the same writer. I've tested all 3 (6 in auto form only) and they are all impressive cars. If I was buying for me I'd probably get the XR5T, but I decided to get an auto wagon to lease for a year then payout to keep for SWMBO. The 6 had the best drivetrain in auto form with the extra cog, but the Libs smaller size suits us better. Given it is 4yrs old the Lib still holds up very well esp in the interior quality stakes. |

Actually, the bridgestone are $600-700 a tyre across three different quotes so they are equivilant to the continentals. They are also summer rated tyres which for where I live is a good thing.

I swapped an 04 Liberty for a TDCI Hatch and find the Mondeo much superior. I thought that in dropping 20KW, I'd take a performance hit, but quite the reverse. I guess it's all in the torque. As a bonus, I've gone from 600Km per tank to 900+.

well thats good to know.
Means at least my dealer didn't pull a swifty on me. Wonder why some of them have the bridegstones instead of the conti's? |
