Default 2 X Magnaflow cats today- big difference

When I first got the car it had a real crack to the exhaust note and lately that had gone and it sounded a little muffled and just a little flat in its go dept with some pinging up top even with 98ron fuel.
Got the ford cats cut off and 2 Magnaflow Stainless steel core hi-flows put on what a difference. One of the old cats were falling to bits inside and when you look in it was well over 50% blocked. The new ones fitted and that crack of a note when you you rev it is back its louder smother revs free and feels like the torque has improved and no more pinging up top.
I'm stoked, It's funny how when things happen gradually you just think its the norm until you get it back to the way it should be.

Twin 2.5 inch and charged $575 supply and fit in the stainless. The factory ones are welded straight to the extractors so he cut them just below the sensor and cut the flange off and welded the cat to the pipe then the flange pipe to the cat and bolted it up. I stood and watched him do both, bit of work so I was happy with the price given that even buying cheap on ebay the cats would have been $454. getting it done all in one place there was no hassle with waiting for cats to turn up in the mail and it supports the local little guy.

Stainless gutted cats are more durable than the std ceramic cat and even the best manufacturers have warranty claims from production line faults. Why not just take it back for a warranty claim.

Just returned from an overnighter trip from Blue Mountains to Gunedah and back.
Best fuel before new cats was 3 years ago from home to Melbourne
9.6L/100km

Just beat that. Filled to brim at Windsor and drove to gunedah and back to singleton filled it to the brim again putting just over 58 litres doing just under 630km which gave me a new best of 9.3L/100km on the calculator with full figures.
not bad for some putty rd driving in that tank.

Pretty good considering you ran the putty. That road was designed to empty fuel tanks

In all fairness though, I did have the mrs in the car so it was a fairly light putty trip (she only told me to slow down twice LOL) and that only accounts for around a third of km's
