Default Merc V12 Bi Turbo

Walking home from RSL last night, I came across a Merc fuelling up in the Maribyrnong Mobil servo.
What an awesome bit of machinery! It was a 2005 SL65 AMG V12 TWIN turbo.
450 Kw & 1000Nm Plus the biggest diameter "stoppers" I've ever seen!
Pics below don't do justice (crappy phone)...
Anyone have an idea of the price & performance of one of these?

one of them was one of the prizes that either the jockey or horse owner won (cant remember which one) here on the last Annual Steeple Chase along with the prize money.
it was silver and i seen it driving back to the dealers after the race.
looked awesome!

That's another thing I love about them... grandma could drive one without feeling intimidated.

I spotted an E55 (i think?). Sedan version of that monster anyway.
I couldn't BELIEVE the size of the brakes. If your impressed by your GTP's brembo's (looks wise anyway), you havn't seen nothing!

Seriously impressive piece of machinery. Understated styling yet you can't miss it.

Sedan version of the SL65 AMG would be the S65 AMG. The E55's closest coupe/cabriolet relative is the CLK55 AMG.

Were any of the CL65s black MrSparkle? Black CL65 AMG... my favourite Merc.. one of my favourite cars period :sm_drool:

CL65 is just a MONSTER.

SL65 is a bit racier/sportier. However most reviews rate the SL55 as a better car than the SL65 as it gets its power down much better and is a far better package.

Funny you should mention the SL55.. I saw a video a while ago, gonna try and find it again, SL65 and SL55 racing at the strip.. the 65 ran an 11.8 as far as I remember.. and the 55 ran a 12.6. No wheelspin from either car, they just squat and go... mmm SL55 & SL65 AMGs :

I have driven a CLS Blown 5.5 AMG 8 and thats one serious bit of gear. This thing must be unbeleivable.

The CLS starts to bag the rears up but then finds traction very quickly. 170 by the end of third comes up very quickly.

And the brakes on the Bently Continental are even bigger. The front rotors are something like 405mm, the biggest fitted to any production car.

having driven an sl65 amg, there is no way you would get anywhere if it didnt have the traction control/esp system that it has. but all in all its an awesome car. plant the foot at any speed and it will rearrange your internal organs
