Always use Mobil 8000 98 oct. put in bp 98 the other day as car was on the 20k's 2 go filled it up as usual, driving along decided to have a play and noticed pinging in the upper rev ranges, back to mobil happy days. Petrols aren't petrols are they. Car custom tuned to 98 fuel.

We use E10 in the family Avalon and have been using it since the United nearby started selling it. Unfortunately, we had to change fuel cards and have started using Shell or Caltex E10. It doesn't really matter about what crap is going into the system as it's no sports car, but if we upgrade, we will probably buy a diesel car or use Premium.

I have used Ultimate almost 99% of the time since I've owned my car. I found my car to be horrible on Ultimax in performance and the economy was even worse and we're talking about -100kms compared to Ultimate on full boost.

usually use Shell 91 in the XR6, and find it works beautifully, but since the price of fuel has gone down, I now use Shell Vortex (98), and find it runs just that little bit better.

I used to use Caltex Vortex 98, but then switched to Shell V-Power 98 after being told it was better than the caltex. I found i got a few more km's per tank with shell so stayed with it.
By the way does shell use ethanol in there premium fuels.

usually BP ultimate. Still waiting for the price to hit $3- per litre as predicted. By christmas, if I remember correctly. Those soothsayers are noticeably quiet lately.

As it's not used for anything serious, BP E10 (as my local servo doesn't have regular 91 and it's so ridiculously cheap all week), otherwise whatever 91 is around. Oh, and LPG.

Caltex 95 usually, it's down the road and cheap.
When I actually use my flash tuner in the next few weeks I'll make the switch to 98.

I find BP Ultimate to be the best in my SS, In my old Fairlane I used to always run Caltex 98 so I will probably go back to that when the XT gets back on the road and when I pick up my Effie.

I didn't even realise Caltex had a 98, I thought all their Vortex stuff was only 95, hence why I avoid Caltex/Woolworths servos.

That sounds about right - I don't believe Caltex servo's in SA have the 98 - that's why I avoid them too! I use Shell V-Power 98 for my car (or if necessary and convenient, BP Ultimate)

Well heres my update........
Everyone seems to be using 98 so the next time I filled up I used V Power (shell was nearest servo at time) and car was ALOT quieter and more responsive and the fuel economy dropped from 9ish to 8ish so 2 thumbs up from here. BP Ultimate - I went and next time filled up with Ultimate my car ran like a tractor, revved higher and economy shot up again so personally back to the V power for me....... Its cost neutral with E10 to V Power (better economy) but the V Power runs smoother, greater range and better response |

E10 from wherever, car runs as good as 95, no noticble effect on economy, and the rough idle caused buy the ISC is gone....

Cant someone enlighten me to if we have 100 octane fuel in perth because aparnt from at the race way i dont think we do? I have herd of shell opitimax being 100 octane but it got taken from servos
My work van for detailing, it had unleaded in it when i got it so i put premium in it and about 200m up the road from the servo all the knocking stopped and bad noises and just ran smooth as a whistle.....so thumbs up to even premium But i run the XR8 on 95 and 98 when its a tad cheaper
