I've got a Redback system on both my AUs and I'm happy with both.

Actually the wagon is a bit of a hybrid, but the sedan is all Redback and it's my favourite. Nice and deep.

If you like it really loud, go for the one muffler only, but it will most likely drone at cruising speeds. The rear resonator eliminates that.

Just make sure that the bends in the system are mandrel bent.

So go for the Redback sports system (mandrel bent) with the rear resonator.

That'd be my pick for sure.

All the best with it.

has anyone heard anything about Cobra performance exhausts?

what do they sound like?

Southport exhaust only offer Cobra or Lukey and they recommend Cobra over lukey.

really, for a fairly stock 6 cylinder au falcon any mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust will be fine. if you want to run it down the 1/4 mile or get good power on a dyno get a custom one, a 3" one, or higher flowing mufflers... i have pacemakers, a magnaflow cat and 2.5" redback system with a rear resonator on mine and i like it, nice when you put the boot in but doesn't drone at all on the freeway, $400 odd is a bit rich for one to be installed, i did mine in my driveway, not even jacked up and it only took about 1/2 hour for the catback

Never heard of Cobra, but Lukey sounds freaking awesome, a bit like this :

As for the other, go Redback, everyone seems to love them, but dont pay over $400, you should be able to get it a bit cheaper than that.

you will end up with more drone in a wagon then you would in a sedan due to the difference in cabin size. however saying that, i have a 2 1/4 system cat back and very little drone. still a nice note though

I got a XR8 single 2.5" catback. No drone sounds good. Since doing mine the exhaust place is recommending it to any XR6 owners that come in.

Thats a dam good price mate. Go for it. I just got my cat back fitted today, redback 2.5" mandrel bent with hotdog, muffler and rear resi fitted for $420. Too quiet for some on here, but for me its nice. You can tell the car has something a little extra noise wise but not loud like most want it. Im getting paccie 4499's fitted with magnaflow cat fitted as soon as I sort my lpg converter location issues.

if you are going to a decent exhaust shop they should be happy to 'adjust' the system if you aren't happy with it.

the dude i go to has always asked what characteristics i want from the exhaust (for me, not power or a stupidly loud drone, just a nice note) after he fits it he says it should be right but bring it straight back if i'm not happy, or even to let it burn in for a week then bring it back if i don't like it. this is from a small shop, not a big aus wide place.

good luck. hope you are happy with the results

redback isnt very good, my bro got one fitted to his au wagon same series as mine and sounds horrible, huge muffler for some reason,

i have 1 small muffler with 2 baffles and thats it, but now have upgraded to extractors and 3 inch high flow cat and the sound the car makes is very very loud and sounds like a v8, 2 hand pair of motovatior extractors, 3 inch outlet to 3 inch high flow cat to my orignal exhaust system and its sounds very awesome, will get some vids, only cost me 350 bucks fitted from wreckers
