IGA stands for Independant Grocers Association.
They are not a chain. They are not run by one company. They are not a franchise. They are an association. Every store is individually owned, hence the independant.

They're not franchises like say a red rooster franchise. That's why they use the word association.

It's kind of like a network thing isn't it? Independently owned, get together for buying power, marketing etc.... Probably a relatively small franchise fee? The purchasing is done by each store, or store office, unlike Coles and Safeway, where everything's billed to, and paid from corporate.

true independent shop owners/grocers/whatever pay for all this, and yes, they are also more expensive, but profits don't go to usa label owners, or huge multi-millionaire corporate ceo's(or shareholders), but to the bloke(or chick!) workin behind the counter. usually... |

don't get me wrong. sometimes, the iga or whatever is the ONLY choice... and these cases, the owners/operaters are probably the only legit medium business operaters in the area... who owns your local pub?? i bet $1000 its not the publican in 90% of cases..
or the servo's...video shop? pizza???(i live on pizza!! and i haven't bought dominoes/pizzahut/whatever for years...local and better. don;t mind paying more for local quality)... saw a joke about qld being the konichiwa state(how '80's)... but would rather go to those shops than woolies/etc.. they work for a living. and cheaper. |

Fuel is expensive, keep whining about it, that'll fix it.

whining about will help, if you back it up with action. but you just keep consuming, without question. do your pants hang round your knees? flat bill hat to one side? speed thru red lights, then whinge about "revenue raising"?? have fun |

I'm just sick off hearing people complain about fuel prices, everyone has been doing so as far back as I can remember. You talk of backing it up with action, so buy a hybrid my car manages at best 26L/100km, with a car of that high a consumption I think I have no right to complain about fuel prices, for that matter nor does anyone else who doesn't own a 4cyl 6l/100km or better as without efficiency you are paying more for fuel at your own choice. |

but why wouldn't you want to change it? i'm already on dual fuel. no way i'd buy a hybrid! my 6 gets 2-3 months out of a tank of petrol...love lpg. my point is, and always has been, why should we accept without question? they could give us cheaper petrol/lpg/pizza, but we don't care....just cos you don't wanna try, doesn't mean it's not better...

Comes back to, can't afford the fuel can't afford the car. If someone whines that their fuel costs are sooooo bad and they own a V8, then maybe they should sell it and get a 4banger. Hmm?
