About that strong. Theyre stronger than the B series auto's but doing line lockeys and burnouts etc. will kill one pretty quick. Maybe tell us your plans or why you need to know. |

Just wondering as when I do some mods I want to know how long it will last. Like getting a stally, changing other bits and pieces. I've owned this car for 4 years and havent done any static skids or anything. Give it some every now and again, but thats about it.

If you don't drive like an absolute fool and understand what a car can and can't handle, then the strength is not an issue.

I cant speak for the V8 auto's but I guess it will be the same as the 6s when I say 'fit a HD tranny cooler on' to preserve life of the trans.

Cant seem to find the paper work but nothing major basically it got a look over to check its condition, had to get a solinoid replaced as the shifts started to became a bit sloppy but that fixed it, supposivly a common issue. I also had a firm but tolerable shift kit and quite a large trans cooler installed and it runs awesome! Cheers chris

The t series has the exact same auto, all that was done to it was the shift selector shaft was modified to lock first when in drive, the same as yours does when u put it in 1st, this was only done due to the shift buttons on the steering wheel.
The 6cyl and v8 box is basically the same, the 6cyl box has a lower pressure multiplier. And both of these boxes are very good strong boxes.

I was told that the T Series cars have softer clutch packs in their autos to deal with the ESS / manual shifting. Would that be of any relevance here?

well my box was behind a 400hp turbo AU XR6 and it suffered at least 1 powercruise powerplay day... plus drag runs and general crazy driving by its previous owner...
i now have it and its purring along shifting hard as ever it was rebuild by a shop in toowoomba prior to all this.. tuff as nails with a 2800 rpm stall

As has been said get a decent size cooler and you should be fine. As long as you are not hammering the box it should last a while, if your nice to it I dare say your block will need upgrading before your box... Never had any issues with the auto behind my stroker, I broke 1 box about 2 years ago (lost 2nd gear), but it was getting an absolute caining at the time..
