Default What next after extractors?

Ok guys, so basically i'm tossing up between a body kit, or extractors + new cat.

After some quotes for fitting and painting a body kit... leaning towards the new exhaust bits option ;).

anyway to the point. What would be my next move with the engine after that??
what iv done so far is just 2.5" cat back (less rear muffler), Xr snorkel and lukey air filter.

Anyone also recommend a cat? heard 'balisti' (incorrect spelling prob) thrown around the forums a bit.

Also picked up through the builds forum is ignition leads??
what can they do for my car / cost

Any suggestions welcome.
Robbie.

there aint a lick of a difference between the venoms and the ballistics, ive got venoms and my mrs has ballistics. The baffles are exactly the same and the bodies are the same size and almost the same shape. They are both made from 304 stainless and are both 100cpsi. Its totally up to you dude. Extractors and cats was my fave mod so far...

So does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next?

Im thinking seeing as i have the bigger snorkel and air filter, i should change the other bit of pipe to a larger piece as well?

Unless your current intake pipe is smaller than the throttle body it wont make much difference, although alot of the aftermarket ones look soooo much smoother. I would start saving for a lil while and go for somethin like a cam or diff...

^^^agreed..
often the different intake only add cosmetic gains..
after exhaust, do diff gears.. best bang for buck mod in an AU IMO..
go 3.9's though...!

I'd definitely go 4480s (and I did) and I'm lead to believe the only reason you'd want 4499s is because of gas. I've been told by several professionals tuners, mechanics, exhaust shops that 4480s are better throughout th rev range particularly up top. Just look at a picture of the two together. At risk of being flamed I'm gonna say the 4499 low end torque argument is false.
But as always, we are all just opinions, consult professionals before you decide and even then you will find discrepancy

Think... If you further mod your engine do you really expect to be under 3000rpm for long? If I floor it I'm past that before I even get a chance to look at the rev tacho, if you want a quick squirt you're not gonna go from 2000-3000rpm and stop lol

further mods for you of course as suggested could include things such as diff gears, cam or high stall ALL of which focus in the upper rev range so if you're ever possibly going to do further mods don't bother with 4499s because you will find they will eventually hold you back. You seem pretty keen on modding, you're going to be far happier with the 4480s, trust me. Another thing to think about is heat proof coating for the extractors, do it all in one go and save time and money I wish I hadve done mine when I got extractors but unfortunately I was at the
mercy of a very lazy and unhelpful exhaust shop at the time

Peak power of the 4480s is undisputed at high revs, but flatter torque curve for the 4499s is what you need for a daily driver.

The same stock engined car with 4480s vs 4499s should see the 4499 shod car up to speed quicker, but will run short of breath up top, whereas the 4480s will be a bit slower off the mark, but will start to catch up at high revs. I drive mine at reasonable pace, but it's rare for me to get over 4000rpm, so I'd go the 4499s for sure. Overall the car with the 4480s will be faster, but ti will also be booked, as the advantage is really only 80+km/h.

As stattic says though, you will find arguments both ways. If you have a VCT, then go the 4499s for sure.

An advantage to the 4499s is you don't need to bother heat coating as the factory heat shield fits over them. Of course it might help a bit but not quite as important as it is with 4480s
in a stock ratioed car 60-80 or even 50-80 kph feels awesome
with the 4480s around a lot of 70-80 zones it's good, you can feel the kick down and a massive burst of power, I used to love that lol

ah k, well before i read your last post i was almost certain of getting 4499s.. off the line sorta stuff. So the heat shield backs on sealed the deal.

I eventually plan to put a turbo on the car (when i get off green P's)
But do it right, manifold, forged pistons etc

Thanks again for the insight.
