I have a replacement seat belt that I want to install (rear passenger) but there is only about half a metre of slack on it and it won't let anymore belt out. Have I stuffed up by letting too much go in or is there a way to get it back out? Will it come good after the retractor is bolted into position?

make sure its upright and push a touch more in, it will still release and come good.

 So by upright you mean bolt it up and then let some in? I don't want to let any more in now while it's loose and I'm not sure which way is up incase i stuff it up completely :P |

They'll only work when on the level like when bolted in the car. I have to replace two of mine shortly and haven't pulled seats and trim out yet to have a look but I thought there'd only be one way up, or one way to bolt them in?

did this on one i had from a wrecked au and lost all the slack, put it back in the car and no problems. Must be something to do with the angle or pressure on a particular point i think.

Actually can anyone tell me - is it a particular Torx bit or a regular bolt on the seatbelt mounts? I haven't had a chance to have a look yet or buy a manual either.

I replaced one only a couple of weeks ago Front driver) and I needed to use a Torx bit. Bit size reads - T50.
I had the slack problem as well, but once it was in, it all came good.

Once it is bolted in place it will be fine. Unless of course it's fooked.
