Default Remake a plate

dont know if anyone can help here or ill have to go to the rta tomorrow to check it, my mum is about to purchase a 6spd man xr6 50th anniversery, now she has plates atm that are cc-0264 black and white, she purchased these before they brought in the yearly fees so it was a once off fee. As her new vehicle is blue she wants to change her plates from black and white to blue??? does this mean she will now have to pay a yearly fee??

I have the slimline black & white plates & have had them remade once after the annual fee was brought in & I still pay no fee however mine were remade same as they were before.

I would like to get mine redone in the black & gold but am pretty sure I would have to pay an annual fee of about $100.00

Hey going by the plate your mum is younger than I am lol

What colour car is she getting btw?

Enjoy it

Are you serious about the annual fee on eg: 5 digit custom plates?
So if I went ahead and got the new style 71*MACH plates for 500 bucks, I would also need to start paying a yearly fee? If that's the case, then the state govt is just pathetic ... as bad as the police with their speed cameras...

Looks like I'll be keeping "SUNDY" for quite a while yet!...

Its isnt a new rule, its been around for years.
If you order ANY custom plate, even an advance issue, you have to pay an annual fee.
I think the fee is around $400 or something?

Hey mate my old lady did the same thing.

Black and white plates that she 'owns'. The RTA will remake them in black and white and you can keep them without paying yearly fees, but if you want them remade in any other style you have to pay yearly fee's under the new system. It sucks but thats how they do it.

So if your old lady wants to keep it cheap then she'll have to keep black and white. The RTA wouldn't even remake them in the slimline black and white plates without charging a new yearly fee.

Because my "SUNDY" plates are black and white, is that why I don't pay a yearly fee?
If they were any other colour, you're saying that I would?

Relax Jimi, you, like me live on the right side of the Border where the rules are different. The Vic Roads plates are a one off purchase fee with no yearly fee unlike our NSW buddies who are getting Shafted Yearly.
Cheers, Dave

We're only talking about NSW here I think.

Other states are a different story. In NSW many years ago they introduced a yearly fee for customized number plates (whether that be style or lettering), however it only applied to plates ordered after that point, previously personalized plates paid a one off fee and dont have to pay yearly fee's like we do now, so long as they dont want to change them.
