hey guys, i had my au xr8 s2 neg terminal off for around 45 minutes while doing an 02 sensor change.
hooked her back up, ready to enjoy the smooth ride and the car had a small "t" symbol on the instrument cluster where the ODO normally is... after turning the ignition barrel completely off and back on, the t disappeared. but it comes back each time i take the terminal off trying to check connections etc... went to start it, and it didnt crank at all. battery was fine. have tried unlocking/locking the car, entering the stereo pin, checked the terminals, they are solid connection... all auxilleries work fine im really stumped and have a brick for a car.. i have work tomorrow.. ford had no idea, anyone here able to shed some light? desperate.. cheers. |

The "t" in the lcd panel after you connect your battery is to say that it is a tickford dash/cluster, a fairmont will say "fair" so thats normal.
When i disconnect the battery and reconnect, it does the same thing, you turn the ignition to start, to crank, it does its checks and everything lights up, the "t" or "fair" in my case as i have a T series cluster, but it wont crank or start, it will do all checks and make sure all is good, you then switch off and restart and it will crank/fire. |

there you go....
I actually did this today after re-installing my cluster.. Came up with fair, then I switched key off and back on and started the car... I've never tried starting it when it says "fair".. I'm gonna give it a shot next time and see.. That's pretty cool really.. Great info Phil...

My TS comes up with "falr" when you reconnect the battery. Ignition off then on again and it's right. I thought it was F A L R as in "failure?"

Nah it will be mean fairmont in LCD numerals, if you pull out your cluster it will say fairmont on the sticker on top as the series 1/2 TE/TS's had fairmont clusters with the silver fascias to make then T series clusters as they were based on fairmonts and fairmont ghias.
