Default Trip computer into EAII

Hi all, i have just installed a trip computer from EA fairmont into my EA gl, I have left one wire out, (ran out of daylight...) This wire is the one that goes to the injectors, the "Fuel Injection PWM Output on EECIV" green/yellow

What the question is, when i put ignition on the "range" starts beeping at me saying i have zero litres left, or kms.

I have retraced and double checked the fuel sender that goes to my dash, and thats working good, would it have anything to do with this PWN wire not connected? cheers.

well another well thought up post there....

simmo and me just wired up his tonight as well, it was beeping and range read zero as well, then we plugged the cluster back in and it came good, so if you've got the cluster out wack it back in and see how it goes.

I've currently get half my dash out and will be finnishing it tomorrow as well as i ran out of light as well...

The pulse width wire needs to be hooked up for the "Range" and "L/100 km" functions to work - it needs to know the injector pulse to work out how much fuel is being used.
Also, the cluster has to be plugged in to earth the fuel sender circuit. Don't ask me why, it just does. ;)
The pwm wire is pretty easy to get to though - just unravel a bit of the tape at the ecu connector, you should find the green/yellow (iirc) wire easy enough. I just used a scotch lock when I did mine.

If you're just after a digital clock, I'm pretty sure that the EA-ED clocks are an easy retrofit (maybe even plug straight in, if you have a loom already behind the blank where a clock/trip computer is normally housed). There are plenty on Ebay! You should get one for $30 or less (most likely around $20).

Be careful as there are actually 2 green/yellow wires that are in the ECU connector...

whats involved in doing it, how much dash do ya gotta pull out? and do the wires from the trip computer have the other wires sitting there waiting or do you have to probe into a heap of random wires?

The Trip computer wont Dimm with your other dash lights unless your using Ghia dash wiring. Its controlled by the Ghia BEM
