On a slightly different track, People often forget that Ford has less than 10% of the Australian new vehicle market, Ford is choosing which segments they want to play in and what price they want for vehicles, it's not about maximizing sales, it's about maximizing profit per vehicle. If Ford could get $1,000 nett profit per vehicle on all 90,000 odd they sell each year, then that would mean an after tax profit of $90 million - something FoA would be pleased with... I only hope we get new Eco LPI, Ecoboost, Ranger, Escape, maybe Ecosport as soon as possible to boost income. |

Wthout local manufacturing the whole engineering side starts to become shaky, they both need each other to survive surely. And it was a $1.8 million investment in PG and PD facilities and E8 programs. The other programs weren't counted in that. If you can find a press release from the time it will show that. |
