i've taken the 'maxiumum' (top) market value for my insurance agreed value. my insurer gave me an agreed value, i said it was too low, so they increased it.

A year ago I had an AU Forte with 180K insured for 10k, shame I never crashed it... (Into a stationary object, not a Tarago full of kids, and preferably sparing personal injury).

After arguments with my insurer they finally relented and allowed my repairer to fit a brand new front bar and lower insert onto the gt.
After 2 weeks wait the parts are all there and i went to the repairer this morning to check the colour match where they sprayed a test area on the old bar before spraying the new one...damn that Envi is a hard colour to match especially on a plastic bar. We had to wait until there was a sunny day and 2 reps from the paint place came and assisted with the match. It is a little hard to get the minute yellow metallic fleck in the Envi looking the same as the rest of an 11 yr old car. Should get it back tomorrow. Upped my insurance to an agreed value of 30k to be sure. The front bars are 4,900 for a bit of plastic that scrapes in a driveway unless you creep one wheel up it at a time.

i talked to my insurer at renewal time and got the 'maximum' agreed value that they'd put on it, rather than the agreed market.

I'm with AAMI, $1,800 to insure for $35,000. They would only go that high because of my cars condition and low kms otherwise it would have been $28k. Excess $500
That is probably overinsured as I'd get nowhere near that if I sold or traded it.
