I played for about 6 months.. Bought the ford falcon v8 supercar and phillip island track. Very very difficult game...really need to know how to adjust a cars settings and have an understanding of how they work...definitely the best racing sim out there if a bit expensive. I found it a lot of fun though...ive just purchased a g27 racing wheel so i might jump back into it. A few of the v8 supercar drivers race on it too for practice like the giz, which is a testament to how realistic the game is.

Expensive is an understatement.
As far as V8's are concerned, it's only Ford, and it's only Phillip Island. It's got a lot of take-up for Nascar. But for V8's it's not very impressive. Yes, very realistic Sim. And clearly they are making money. rFactor 2 is apparently going to the same online model. Simbin seem to be hanging onto the sell-a-standalone-game and get online although their RaceRoom hints at moving to the online model as well. Codemasters have abandoned everything else in favour of the Rally and F1 games, but Codemasters is an Arcade house, they're into making the game enjoyable and not so much a sim racing game. I can't say I'm a fan of having to pay real money for every track and for every type of car you want to race in iRacing. But then, apparently a lot of real racers are on iRacing - like Shane van Gisbergen. So if you get good you're in good company. But it will cost you an absolute mint to get there. And you may as well go and buy yourself a real racecar if you are going to spend up. Lukeyson
