I have an AU2 XR6 and i use Shell Helix Ultra. Ive tried afew other oils in it and this one just seems to "feel" the best. James |

snozzau,
do you do your own service? and do you change the oil filter at the same time? (you should do) do you drive close to red line when you thrash it or just drive hard but not rev it right out? How many ks between services? If you drive hard close to redline a lot, I'd definately suggest any of the full synthetic oils... If not, then a semi-synth 10W/30 like pennzoil changed every 5000ks and oil filter should be good... and all but stop your engine from wearing... |

Fauxpas,
In answer to your questions, yes I do my own services, oil and filter every 5000kms. Dont drive near redline very often Is 10w/30 the right grade,I thought it was 20w/30 |

For economy (and yes, it works, I tried once) they have been using 10W/30 since at least AU... The trade off is that you get better fuel figures at the bowser, but you can't get 10W/30 in a $9.99 brand oil... so you'll always be paying $20+ per bottle. I still go with recommended weight, even after warranty... They built the motor... they know better than me... |

Castrol magnatec for me. Tried a few others but they always drop my oil pressure on hot days.
