Dont get me wrong, It looks nice! But I have a small problem.
I got some 245/40/18's put on the rear today ( I wanted 255's but they only had 245s there, so i thought they would do) Anyone else have a similar package? It now bottoms out over bumps : (tyres hit the side of the guard, and scrape the top) Note: However, i did have 3/4 of a tank of fuel, and two stockies in the boot. But, if i try and put people in the back now, its going to kill my guards and tyres lol. I have been saying for ages i never have a problem, nor did i have to get my guards rolled. But it looks like now i only have a few options. 1 - Go back to 235's 2 - Get rid of Superlows (this is very unlikely, id rather have 235's then no superlows!) 3 - Put crap shocks in and not short travel shocks 4 - Get the guards rolled (im scared of them cracking the paint) Can i get the rear guards rolled, and if so, What did everyone else pay ? I had 235/40/18s, and never had a problem. Im guessing i wont be going 255's :( If someone else has the same setup, or similar, id love to know what you have done.

These are on an 8" rim. 245 over 235's shouldn't induce rubbting to the extent you have suggested.
I run superlows + short stroke shocks + 255/40/17 and have BUCKETS of room between the side wall and the guard even under full suspension travel. Seems a tad more than a coincidence that it happened when your car was installed with new tyres.

could it be the offset of the rim? might be out further than normal to get more track. guard rolling is usually about $50 per corner. you could tell them to only roll it half of what they normly would if you r worried about paint cracking.

There is a finger width gap between the tyre and the guard. Sounds like plenty of room to me. I dont see the stockies in the boot weighing it down that much to cause it to bottom out. But like i said, if i put people in the back, its only going to be worse.
I dont see how mine would scrub/hit/ whatever they are doing with only 245's, and ur 255s are fine.. With 3/4 of a tank of fuel, it does hang 2 " + over the rear tyres though.

245*40*18= 653mm
255*40*17= 636mm Thats nealry 2 cm difference in the OD of those combos, maybe that little extra width has just sent it over the edge :( Bummer Stevo

Ok, found the problem. The tyre isnt scrubbing on the side, it is just hitting the top/side of the tyre just at the rear of the guard (when i go over a bump, the car bumps down and hits the tyre)
See attached pic: (p.s, this is a old pic, just first one i found to make a diagram of) So now i just have to either shave some off the rubber moulding in the guard, or do a dodgy somehow to try and stop it hitting.

Hey mate, Sump has never hit, Well its clean and has no scratches on it.
Not sure on the clearance. I dont have short travel shocks in the front, (which would bring it down a bit more), because i have a steepish driveway and the front cant go any lower until i move house. Ill let you know on the sump clearance in a few days.

hey stevo, i got a newbie question for ya.
did you change your upper diff locating arms to the tickford ones off XR's to correct the driveline angle? and are the arms supposed to be different for the left and right side of the car? cause ive bought them and they say right side and left side but they look identicle : |
