Default EL Falcon auto box slipping

Hi hope this is in the right place, Basically 97 el 4.0 the auto box is slipping, it was low on oil so we topped it up but it still slips, would this be box or torque converter? We're still driving it and have been for the last thousand k's. Also anyone in Brisbane that would let us use there drive way to change the box if we need to? Have tools and knoledge! Thanks in advance. Ben

Default Re: EL Falcon auto box slipping

Hi Ben,

best case would be that the transmission oil needs to be changed (rather than topped up) and that a transmission service will fix the problem. Also, is it possible that a gasket is leaking transmission oil? I had this problem with mine.

Worst case would be that the trans needs to be replaced.
