Hi guys,
I'm looking to get some wheels from the states and looking for some help on the best option for freight. I'd prefer air freight as I don't really want to wait 40+ days to get them. Anyone have experiences they can share? thanks, Phil. |

Air Freight will cost you a million billion dollars.

Not much goes by sea now. Surface = surface air lifted.

I had a lawn mower delivered from Amazon US for $135, that was a fairly heavy package.
Have you tried a freight forwarder like Ship It To? You send the package to their US base and they send it to you. |

I've had great shipping times out of the US. Just got full exhaust sent over for a motorbike. Got here in about a week and was $110.

It seems to depend on weight and total size as they like to go off a pre determined weight per cubic foot or meeter or which ever they choose. If you can try find a us base company as they seem to alot cheaper compared to Aussie companies who say they can.

I buy all my motorcycle tyres from jakewilsom.com. It costs $70 for two tyres to get air freighted fom Utah (USA) to the Alice. It all comes down to how the senders are willing to search out the best freight deals... Good luck.

Use mainfreight, they do air and sea,I had a package about the size of three pallets come from Joplin Missouri ,no problems at all took three weeks sea freight or get your wheels air freight, don't waste your time dealing with ******* who advertise shipping in various car mags, they will muck you around!

Buy two at a time so you stay under the $1000 gst limit and get a quote door to door. it will save you hundreds of dollars. Unless you are going huge wheels buy your tyres here in OZ. Should work out cheaper over all.
I recently got my wheel from rims n tyres in the U.S. and went air freight. Couldn't be happier.
