I have a MY11 Mondeo TDCI. When I last had the car serviced, Ford rang me to recommend an injector clean. I didn't go ahead with it at the time but I'm thinking about getting it done as my car is now due for its 3 year service. Anyone had it done?
Ford are quoting me $250 just for the injector clean. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

there are benefits from cleaning the injectors from time to time based on mileage and fuel quality, but many times it is upsold to frequently

Does anyone know if the stuff you can buy over the counter at servos, supercheap etc does the same thing?

pretty useless, it's good to help with preventative maintenance but does not really clean at all

You are best off running a good fuel that has a cleaner added. For that purpose I run the good Vortex stuff. I will occasionally put some additional Nulon diesel cleaner through in higher concentrations. Never had a problem.

+1 on that Steve. In fact you cannot get anything into the fuel tank without it. You can buy them from auto stores. a must have IMHO

When I was working at a Honda dealership we had this attachment that went onto the fuel rail with this injector clean can, it wasn't one of those ones you put in the fuel tank you buy from SCA for example, but yeah it was upsold to everyone left right and center.

When I bought my car I didn't have the funnel so I thought it was normal just to push open the flap and pour it in which worked, but it goes straight into the overflow into the floor.
That was a waste of a bottle of injector cleaner. |
