Default AU2 XR8 Ute intermittantly wont start

Ok, i got a problem that showed up about 2 months ago, and has happened 3 times. I got a AUII XR8 ute, manual, and occasionaly when i turn the key to start everything is black, nothing works, cant even turn the headlights on. Give it a minute, turn the key and its all fine starts like a charm, but has reset everything.
ANyone else had this prob ?
I checked all terminals they are fine and tight, battery is new, but makes me think it hasnt anything to do with that anyhow, as it goes away and starts like new after a short rest.
Any help appreciated

see if your starter motor has siezed up?? i dunno, i am just throwing around ideas. but it wouldn't be the starter motor if you can't turn on your headlights... that is strange??

A friend of mines S3 au XR8 ute had the battery replaced it only lasted 18 months. I've still got my factory battery from 1999 in a AU1 6 cyl ghia. Its longest a battery has ever lasted for me.
