Been trying to adjust the clutch today. Reason being, was that it was picking up about 1cm from the carpet, meaning that you really had to force the clutch pedal down to stop it from slightly engaging at trafic lights etc. The problem is though, when the cletch is set so that all three pedals are in line, the clutch wont fully engage, and when it is set so that there is a couple of cm travel before engaging, when fully released, it sits about 4 cm above the other pedals, and the clutch arm seems to rattle, meaning that a small amount of pressure needs to be kept on the pedal to eliminate this. Also, in this position, when flooring it in second, without slight pressure on the pedal, a really bad vibration/noise comes from the gear box. Any suggestions?? Its an EL falcon btw, with ea T5 box.

I've got a similar problem.. How do you adjust the clutch cable properly?

The clutch pedal should be about 10mm above the brake pedal, or about 140mm from the floor pan. To adjust the pedal travel, use the cable nut (on the engine side of the firewall) to shorten or lenghten the cable.

Good to see you back on the forums Tim.
Either try adjusting the cable. Or the bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel are coming loose. |

Either that or a collapsed pressure plate, which happened to me not that long ago...

yep, as said, the pedal should sit higher than the others. The height is set at where the pedal front butts against the clutch switch. Travel is set under bonnet using the nut on the cable. If its at its maximum then that means either the cable is stretched or the firewall is breaking.

Check firewall is not cracked or stuffed pedal box?

Cheers for that guys. Dont think the cable is stretched, or the firewall cracked. It just seems that I cant get the clutch adjusted so that the pick up point is right, and the pedal not sitting halfway up under the dash. Could be the clutch plate wearing out, does shudder from time to time.

Mine was same (as per Lukes recent thread). Only disengaged about 5mm from the floor, and the pedal sat about 100mm above the others. Pressure plate bolt was loose, causing vibration which increased with rpm, and an annoyingly cruddy clutch... The bolt let go, the clutch started to slip badly, and i found the problem ;)

mmmm might be time to pull the box out :( Im still using the 3 bolt flywheel and clutch from the fairlane, so I might upgrade to a 4ltr flywheel and clutch. Might as well get the 3:45's and lsd fitted at the same time....
