1 bar = 14.7psi so 6psi is about 0.4-0.5 bar

Same thing, one of them is pre metric (not sure which one :P) but if you multiply bar by 14.5 you get PSi.

thanks for the info. I ask becasue I've been reading that stock 4L engines will take up to 12psi of boost, make 220 rwkw and give trouble free motoring for at least 30,000 kms. I'm in the process of putting a turbo on my ed, but I'm only aiming for 6 psi as a starting point. These 4L engines have so much potential, I can't wait to blow a few skylines away!!! Go the Fords!!!

Neither are metric, metric is Pascals (KPA = Kilopascals)

6 psi in these engines is nothing man... i have stock ecu, stock internals, stock trans.. I've had countless people telling me "ohh man you have to uprgrade this and that, your engine will never last" Im running at least 9 pound all day every day, no engine trouble's whatsoever.. I've done about 5,000kms so far.. touch wood (quarter mile time was done with 4psi)

thats good to hear, people with experience in the mod have been saying the same thing, the stock motor loves a bit of positive pressure! down the track i'll put a acl engine rebuild kit thru the motor, or something similar should I want more grunt, I've been told that once I get a taste for it, i'll want more

just a couple of questions though, when mounting the intercooler, where did you place the air con bottle at the front, back in the engine bay? is this a simple job to move?

They can run up to 15 Lb all day evey day..But compression an TUNE comes into it...
My car though its been built from ground up for forced induction still has black smoke from exhaust on hard throttle / boost 18 Lb..That due to SAFE tune...
The boost levels people talk about is what the std map senser with read before it shuts down..Which is usually around 8 to 10 Lb..But at that level it would be runing WAY lean..Its rpm and bad tune that kills any engine...Imo an engine driven by family person up to 200.000 klrs [ serviced well!] is still o/k to turbocharge if engine is still in good nick..Though timing chain, cylinder head bolts, rear main seals should be looked at being replaced...With the extra clearance due to wear is about right for forced induction...
