Default Ford Earns More Motoring.com.au “Recommends” Awards

Sydney, August 27, 2014 – Ford jumped ahead of Mercedes and continued to lead Toyota and Mazda by earning the most “Recommends” awards in 2014 for vehicles of an auto-maker from the respected motoring.com.au auto enthusiast site.

Ford received eight of the prestigious accolades, including two category wins with the Fiesta (First Car) and Ranger (Tradie).
“It’s a testament to Ford’s product engineering capabilities that it has topped motoring’s Recommends awards for the third year running,” said motoring.com.au and carsales.com Ltd Editor-in-Chief, Mike Sinclair. "motoring.com.au ‘Recommends’ awards the best new cars on sale today. The cars we choose are the best in their respective segments and represent great buying choices for new car shoppers,"

The awards are considered based on scores given to new vehicles by motoring.com.au’s experienced automotive journalists, with five vehicles in the running for each category. Winners are selected on key credentials including performance, handling, and suitability for purpose and value for money.
“We are absolutely thrilled to earn the most recommended vehicles from motoring.com.au in 2014 as it is more evidence that our plan is working to deliver world-class vehicles with leading quality, fuel economy, technology and safety,” said President and CEO Ford Australia, Bob Graziano.
“These awards also are a testament to the hard work that the Australian team is doing, to design and engineer vehicles such as Ranger that truly resonate with customers and their modern driving preferences,” said Mr Graziano.

Seen as a key tool for car buyers, Ford’s cluster of Recommend awards saw it outdo fellow carmakers including Mercedes-Benz which took away seven awards, and Toyota and Mazda which received six awards each.
Ford Recommend awards 2014:

First Cars: Ford Fiesta

City Cars: Ford Fiesta

Family Cars <$30K: Ford Focus

Family Cars >$30K: Ford Territory

SUVs <$50K: Ford Territory

Offroad 4X4s: Ford Ranger

Tradie vehicles: Ford Ranger and Ford Transit Custom
