I don't see what the problem is or how this is even getting mileage.
I've got FPV mats in my R-Spec - I want to keep them in good condition and I bought another set of mats to put over them.
For goodness sake, compared to the price of the car, $30 or so is nothing for mats.
I do the same for my Territory; the aftermarket mats have done 22000km now and are just starting to wear through where my left heel rests. The Ford Territory mats are - in excellent condition.
Yeah that makes sense. I might go out and get a mat to protect the mat thats protecting the mat. Even then if there from ford my left foot would still be sitting on the car carpet
