Umm i beg your pardon mate, Pub is general automotive, so yes it does belong here. Shows how much you know. Not a very good attitude to have. Anyway i was just thinking of go-carting, just to save a new thread, does anyone have any idea of places on the gold coast also. Sorry to slighty steal your thread.

Ace Karts is good, they are very professional and programs are well run. Been on quite a few trips up there. Race formats cater for just about any group ( although i think the min for a booking is 10) with good pricing. 4 stroke race karts
www.acekarts.com.au Another great 1 was "silhouette" on the hume hwy ate somerton. They are 2 stroke race karts which go a little harder but not a great deal. The best thing about silhouette is that where at ace karts you do the qualifying and then your 2 or 3 races back to back and by race 2 or 3 you're totally buggered, silhouette break the group in 2 meaning you get 15 or 20 mins between each race giving you time to have a break. http://www.silhouettekarts.com.au/ For $70 bucks at ace karts we got a 10 min qualifying and 2 15 min races. All run back to back so you're in and out in an hour. For $70 at silhouette we got the same races, with a break between each 1 and a barbecue tea for the same price taking about 3 hours. Just to make you jealous i just got off some 125cc 2 stroke race karts in Phuket in thailand that are insane! Twice as fast as any of the above mentioned and just shred tyres the whole way around the circut for half the price! Have fun |

More on topic, has anyone been to the indoor karts down in Moorabbin, somewhere near South rd i think? The name eludes me, but it has a massive upstairs bar that looks down onto the track. Very slick setup they've got, the karts get up to a half decent speed too.

Been to the one in Moorabbin - the karts were good, but the layout made it hard to pass. Haven't been to any other indoor tracks. First outdoor one I had been to was Top Kart Racing in Epping. The karts were fairly quick, but not maintained/updated enough and there were noticeable variances in speed and/or handling between karts. You could visually see camber differences in the front wheels in some and they didn't drive as well. Others might handle well, but were down on power. They have timing for the karts
Next went to Ace Karts in Sunshine. They have recent and equal karts, the track is good and have timing too. They can be fun nazis though. I got pulled up once for being baulked by a lapped driver in our group (lapped for the 3rd time)and spinning as she had no clue what was going on behind her. That can stuff up your race. The guy just told me to take it easy. WOFT. Me and my friends don't go out there to punt each other off the track and race clean. Went to Silhouette karts a couple of weeks back and the karts were good. You get a break between each race because they give the privateer kart drivers a run for 10 mins between the sessions. So, if you're in a bigger group (>12) that is split in 2, you'll run 1 out of every 3 sessions. They don't have timing there, so there's no real qualifying.

Yep, you can make an honest mistake at ACE and get bollocked mercilessly by the staff, yet other places they just shrug and have this look of "Well, that'll teach ya".
ACE is awesome, but they need to lighten up a little sometimes. |
