Suzuki SX4 WRC

Suzuki To Challenge WRC In 2007
Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced that it will enter the World Rally Championship (WRC) in August, 2007.

Announced at the 76th Geneva International Motor Show, Suzuki will use the newly launched Sport X-Over (crossover) vehicle, the SX4 for its WRC challenge.

The decision follows Suzuki's highly successful involvement in the Junior World Rally Championship (JWRC) which included a Championship win for the Suzuki Ignis Super 1600 in 2004 and co insides with the European launch of the SX4.

A collaborative development with Fiat, the SX4 combines the concept of "sporty compact" together with Suzuki's strong 4WD tradition.

Now available in Europe, Suzuki will also launch the SX4 model in Japan, North America and other regions worldwide in the near future.

The sleek and stylish 5 door hatchback is available in both 4x4 and 4x2 capabilities and comfortably seats up to five people.

The Suzuki SX4 is the first car in its class to feature a combination of a 4x4 system, six speed manual transmission and diesel engine.

The Rally sport version of the SX4 has been developed alongside the models of the SX4 that have been perfected for retail sale and will now become the focus of further development and testing, to increase its competitive potential.

Further technical details of the new Suzuki SX4 WRC will be announced and confirmed in the future.

Current development of its power unit and power train is well advanced and the prototype car is equipped with a new 2.0 Litre turbo charged J20 engine.
