What will be interesting to see is what the price difference will be between hilux and ranger given Toyota has a hybrid range and Ford has ......... to offset these emissions.

Will that be a deciding factor in the sales race.. I mean if a ranger becomes up to 7 grand more expensive than a comparative hilux will that be enough to change sales ?

the article is just scaremongering. Utes will still be available, just as they are in Europe and the US

No ones saying they won't be available.. but there is a increased tax for those not meeting the standards and someone will be paying it.. and I doubt manufacturers will wear that increase without sharing the love with the consumer

I assumed we would simply pick up the UK Ranger, but when I looked at the brochures, it seems that the CO2 emissions is actually HIGHER on the UK version (264g/km) compared to our current Australian Eu5 version (222g/km) so I don't know how this would even work in that case. The legislation is really complex and I can't figure out even how the numbers are finally calculated :(

Incidentally, the PHEV returns only 68g/km CO2 so maybe we'll just sell load of them ???

Tbh I think the new rules are cactus.. and are fully slanted to remove choice from the buying public..
I'm not a fan of hilux ranger triton etc.. but they have a purpose and I can't see how these rules help those who want them for non business purposes

What a time to be alive, if the federal government changes next year then it'll be a thing of history this NVES,

If not, Isuzu has to be top of the list and I reckon until the PHEV Ranger comes along Ford Australia is going to become non-competitive on price with the Ranger and Everest vs Toyota because of the rest of their range, unless they take a hit on the profit of every vehicle sold and try absorb the cost.
