Does anyone have knowledge on Ford Solutions warranty?
A week after purchasing my car, I pointed out to the dealer the rusting boot struts and asked if it was covered by the warranty, he wasn't sure, but went ahead and booked it in at the local Ford Service Centre. Turned up on the morning thinking all was sweet as...turns out that all is not, Ford Solutions doesn't cover body parts so have to go about doing a cheap repair through the local PB, the struts won't be replaced but rather tidied up, rust preventor put on and then repainted. I just don't have the extra cash atm to do the whole sha-bang. I'm not sure how big a deal the rusting struts are, but am a bit miffed that I'm having to fork out for something that may have been dealt with prior to purchase : taking in to account I've had the car over a month and has less than 62,000k's on the clock.

Imo if they aren't that bad and it's only surface rust really , then just hit it with a steel brush then some killrust, then a can of 2-pack paint when sealed ( its in the boot so the color doesn't have to be spot on ) .

'kill-rust' it ! ;) , it looks repairable/savable imo ..lol
After your done , if your that worried about it happening again , even after a repaint too - then just put a nice thick layer of grease or vaseline over the area that gets effected , it will get a bit of dust/dirt build up on the grease/vas - but if u wipe it off and redo it once every few months then it should never rust again .

the AU rust warranty is 5 years
i was lucky that i bought my car 3 months before the rust warranty ran out, (10/200 build), so i had the rust in the boot strut cut out for free. was a pain as they scratched my rear bar and that needed to be resprayed as well. your car should still be covered by rust warranty as it is a 2002 build. so get them to cut it for free.

As HLC has said the AU has a 5 year rust / corrosion warrenty. I have had some work done and getting some more work done for free. Its based on your complience plate ie if your car was built 04/2003 then you would have until 04/2008 to have the work done.

bugger, just finished getting the PB to touch it up, looks friggin awesome too, told him not to bother painting as the preventive color wasn't too bad to look at. I'll have to look into that corrosion warranty.
Cheers all.

Was just checking out my boot struts eariler , looks like mine have been repaired before i bought the car - it seems to be a very common problem , yet my car is a 2000 AUII and they look like new (allthough the sections around the strut supports do look repaired , looks repainted and all ) , but no rust pitters in the supports or anything , like new - lucky me .

Had two AU's with this problem sorted out under the 5yr factory rust cover. Both times it was within a few months of it running out, shown to a ford dealer, no problems and no charge.
