Guys I know that the AU transmission has no dipstick but I dont believe the filter had to be changed all the time. Id like to get a plug welded into the pan so I can just drain it and refill it .I cant be bothered to drop the pan each time as it is a pain in the butt.
Has anyone done this?

I think it's B&M that do a trans plug kit, but you will have to remove the pan to get it fitted

Thats fine.I was thinking I may be able to weld a nut inside and have a bolt with washer outside.Undo the bolt ,refill the plug and voila..dont have to muck around in future with removing the pan every time.

Then how do you get rid of it properly then? Is it a pain to take the convertor out?

Use a normal falcon sump plug and fibre washer which is 1/2" UNF thread ,drill hole and weld a 1/2" UNF nut inside the pan.Done plenty this way

A drain plug in the auto pan would certainly be handy...
Dropping the pan is a PITA

Couldn't you use a pump to drain it from the filler hole? Either hand or drill operated would work, maybe.....?

I've only ever been able to get a litre or two out using a handpump. The insides of the transmission stop the tube/hose from getting anywhere near the bottomof the pan.
