Bingo. With stock #19 injectors, and 275kpa fuel pressure regulator i hit 100 Duty cycle at about 4400rpm. From here up the engine still runs on the same AFR, due to the fact that after about 4200 the engine looses VE, and although it's spinning faster it doesn't require more fuel. The comment about 145 is about it with stock injectors/pump/reg is looking at it from the point of view that DC should not exceed 80%.

what was your timing at that rpm? its probable that you could have thrown a lot more timing in and made over 145rwkw...as OED666 and I did...or maybe EB/ED engines just work better than EF/EL ones

Pete.I reckon your cam is lacking in lift in the exhaust department. Also as mentioned before it needs a tune.A tune can make or break a car.

You probably don't need to go as expensive as a haltech, a Megasquirt or Chiptorque chip would be enough, and cheaper.
All aftermarket computers are designed to let you set your afrs and timing at whatever you want, so any of them will be able to increase your power output, provided the mechanical package is up to the job. Surecam have quite inconveniently moved to near sydney and I don't have their current number, but their fax no is 02 4736 1742 Address is 182 Great Western Highway Kingswood 2747 IIRC they quoted me $176+10 postage for an exchange regrind. |

well i would go a megasquirt but i have no idea about tuning them. and i got quoted $1000 to get a chip torque chip installed and tuned so why not pay an extra $500 and i have a fully computer that i can put in any other car aswell. i think i'll get onto surecam and see what sort of cam they would recommend for my engine. thanks for the fax number rollin. thanks pete j |

Tuning costs heaps man - most placed charge $120 an hour or so.
You can get a haltech E6X for about $1300, but then you need to either fit it and pay for 5 or so hours tuning, or get someone else to fit it and still pay for tuning. You also need to fit an extra signal generator to provide a home signal for the haltech so you can run semi-sequential injectors rather than batch fire (semi-sequential gives better fuel economy) I haven't read up on Megasquirt but BI6TIM could tell you some more about it, apparently some guy on fastfords or fordmods or somewhere puts them in EECIV cases, so they plug and play (I reckon I would have got one of these instead of an E6X if I had have know about them at the start of the year) I can give you a hand fitting a haltech and getting a basic tune sorted, but unless you are planning on turboing your car and running more than 7psi in the future a chiptorque chip is much better value for money... |

to many options!
RDP quoted me $1695 for their computer suplied, fitted and dyno tuned. so with a NA engine whats the advantage of a computer over a chip? i'm also thinking about upgrading to a BBM down the track to. if i could get someone to tune the MS2 i would pobably go with it. pete j |

With the computer couldnt you wait for the E-series flash tuner to be released or did you want something that can be tuned by yourself? i thought the flash tuner would be the easiest one to do.
Shaun.

here is my 217rwhp dyno chart...
chiptorque said there is plenty left fuel wise... ![]() they put it on their dyno for an info day, and said it needs a retune for some more fuel, but its not the standard fuel system has hit the limit. and i also have a std fuel reg

I got a wolf tuned in an hour and a half at RDP for 320rwhp.
Go to the right place and they will tune it pretty quick. 2 hours at $120 only cost me $240 -10% discount. Really not that much. I couldnt see an NA motor taking longer to tune than a turbo, unless ive looked over something.

maybe getting the idle/low speed running of an engine with a hot cam right would take some time.

and cold start compensation etc...unless they can just copy that stuff from the stock computer, in which case that would save a lot of time.
