Depends on a few things.
First look at the pricing of both, if you like using your left leg get a manual, if you want the next best thing and you need the mrs to drive or just lazy like some of us go the ZF. (It's an awesome sophisticated box). If you want to keep stock, think if you want hump and the GT's soundtrack go the GT, if you want straight line performance and may look to do modifications bang for buck buy the Phoon. What ever you do your a winner as long as you don't buy anything starting with H.. just kidding if your in the market for performance your on the money. Test drive both back to back and check out the different gearboxes. Let us know how you go. The prices have dropped and dealers are willing to do some cracker deals...don't forget to post up some pics when you take delivery. Good Luck.

If it was me I would drive both, but I would probably get a Manual GT. Only because I'm a big V8 fan, and love manuals.
For a bang for buck drag car, definitely the Typhoon, but that doesn't mean the GT wont do the same thing. |

Yep as above...
If you wanna mod it go the Typhoon way, if you just want a cruiser with more then enough power to get you into the **** with the law, go the V8. For me the V8 was the better option, i prefer the sound of the V8 and have no intention of spending a dime under the bonnet...

Gotta love the V8, the turbos r fast but bit too vacuum cleaner sounding and typhoon looks too plain.
Don't listen to me though I wan't a manual TE50. |

Personally I'd take the Typhoon. In my opinion it is the superior car. I have driven a BF F6 6sp Auto, however not a GT.
The only piece of advice I can give is to drive both and see for yourself. The F6's 550Nm @ 2000-4250rpm (no less then 440Nm between idle and 6000rpm limiter) got me pretty hooked.

Drive both and make up your own mind.
Either one can be made to be quick so forget about all the crap that one is slower than the other, either one is more than capable of doing what you want Buy what you like

Good question and one that begs an answer. Test driver or keyboard pilot ?? As Ratter has said......make up your own mind by going for an actual drive. Stock they both go like stink. Modified they both go like stink. Nuff said.

You can't use stupid amounts of power on the street. So in my opinion if your not taking it to the track get the GT. I haven't driven both but have been for a drive in both and I preferred the GT for the note and looks.

i drove both
The rear wing is to high on the gt and blocked my rear view .. after owning the xr6t i took the gt for a run and liked it . Then i took the phoon for a run and never looked back at the gt its not just the power , the GT felt unstable when cornering , but like i said i was use to the xr6t and the phoon was a natural progression

I drove both before buying my BF GT. The phoon had to be really something special to lure me away from the sound and torque of the V8. End of the day, I wanted something that looked great, drove great and would hold resale value. The phoon didn't cut the mustand for sound, looks or performance.
For those reasons I went for the GT, sure all the turbo boys will tell you the F6 will blow away the V8, however when both are in stock format, they are pretty much the same. When worked on, still pretty much the same. For me, I'm not into modified cars for the sake of some extra horsepower, therefore for me the GT offers in my opinion better looks, sound and drive everyday of the week. If I had money to burn and wanted a track car, then maybe the phoon is an option. Then again, if I had money to burn, I'd still probably buy a GT then turbo it. |

been in both (BA GT). GT sounds good.... R8 goes alot smoother and harder can't relly compare the GT to the new R8, GT is about the same as the VZ R8 (manual, the auto GT wins) 6.0L vs 5.4L 307kw vs 270 550nm vs 520/30? Better chasis Wouldn't even matter if i hadnt been in them, on paper the R8 easy beats the GT end of story

Two, you need to check your figures, the GT makes 290kW, the F6 makes 270kW (and do you really care about 17kW). Three, you say on paper the R8 beats the GT, if your refering to 1/4 mile times, of course it will, but unless your taking it on the track i don't think many people would care about a few tenths of seconds. So its nice of you to introduce a third option, but could you please back your suggestion with more than just stating the basic specs (which were wrong). BAM! |

I think I'd go for a Force model ... and get rid of the rear wing with a bobtail spolier.
Maybe I am getting old or something.

You will not get a definitive answer. Both cars are awesome but have very different characteristics.
I drove both. I preferred the F6 and leased it. |

Does anyone who does a few miles in these vehicles have real world fuel consumption figures between the GT and the Typhoon. I'm also in the market and looking to do 50,000Km a year so fuel economy might make a difference.

IMHO these are the pro's and con's of both models. Pro's F6- Ford badged, Goes hard, Easily modded GT-Ford badged, Goes hard, Classic GT, Better resale value, Sounds Awesome, Superior looks with rear wing and bonnet buldge and strip package gives the car a better presents on the road. Con's F6- Resale value, Exhaust note, Overall road presents GT- Possible higher running costs then the F6 |
