Car broken in to

Well, it had to happen eventually considering I park my car at the Gawler train station every day to go to work. My car finally got broken in to, but funnily enough, not at the train station. It was Saturday night down at Footy Park (sorry, just can't bring myself to say AAMI Stadium) whilst I was watching Adelaide demolish off Hawthorn. It put a bit of a downer on what was a good night.
I just don't understand the mentality of these people. Because I park at the train station, I just don't leave anything in my car. There sure isn't anything worth stealing in it anyway. All they managed to get away with was somewhere between $2 and $5 of change that everyone has in the centre console. They even checked the ashtray so they must have just been looking for money. They left my $100+ sunglasses, a hard hat and umbrella that are on the back seat. Thankfully they couldn't get in to the boot (thanks to the LPG tank and the boot button that stops working after a certain time period) as I had my towbar, tool box, the wife's netball bag and her ski jacket there.

Now I have to patch up a small screwdriver shank sized hole which is next to the door handle. Thankfully the door locks and latches still work, so there is no other damage there. I now have to waste my time all because they wanted to steal the loose change from my car.

That is upsetting, sorry to hear it. There are far to many people that think they have a right to touch, damage or take what does not belong to them.

It is good that you didn't have anything else taken or that they didn't do any major damage. Could have been so much more upsetting if they worked out how to take the car too :S

I guess you won't forget your night out in a big hurry now!

Would have done me a favour! Would have gotten a nice new car, but now I still have the 10 year old Falcon with a hole in the drivers door.

My sisters car got broken into again friday night, tried to get the cheap generic cdplayer out but we bolted it in good, but they cracked the front of it.
Pulled the rear back shoddy 20W speaker out and left it in the back seat, destroying bits of the rear parcel shelf, probably to get into the boot.

They managed to cut theirselves and leave blood on the cd player so the police sampled it.

Bit disapointing as she and dad have taken care to look after it dispite it being a 83/84 commodore. At least this time they didn't take the dogs lead.

Yeah, it's a pain in the rear end, but I'm glad they didn't do any other damage to the car. They could have easily slashed the tyres or the seats, or ripped apart the dash, but didn't choose to do any of that. They just took the money and left.

Least they didnt smash the window to get in... because that makes for a very drafty cruise down the expressway to wrecking yards at lonsdale, believe me!!

Also lucky they didnt smash the thing up in revenge for not finding much... have seen screwdrivers just jammed into CD loading slots because they couldnt get the thing out.

Used to keep my old 351 XD ESP in the driveway in Glenelg, driveway RIGHT on the footpath...hardly drove it at that stage as I was kinda collecting cars to lose money on then

Anyway, checked one day and the glovebox was open and the centre console lid. It'd been sitting there for a good 18 months at that stage. Neither had squat in it, but no damage either.....some advantages in having a very insecure car thats a piece of *** to break in to

These days I reckon they'd knick the whole car if they had sense.

Or even worse for me, back home to the Barossa along Main North Road/Sturt highway! 110km/h with temperatures around the 5 degree mark!

Lucky for me, the 6 stacker is in the boot and they never bothered trying to get in there. Just as well I took the face for the stereo with me to the footy. I put it in my pocket when I took it out and thought about leaving it in the car but decided against it.

Well, just bought a cheap alarm off of eBay and I'll put that in. Won't stop them from getting in, but it will make a noise and hopefully they'll leave without stealing my $2 in change in the centre console.
$53 for the alarm delivered, not too shabby. Doesn't have a shock sensor or any real bells and whistles, but if a door, the boot or bonnet are opened then it'll let them know about it.
