Hi, I've only had my Rebel 220 for 3-4 months and I would like to ask a question of the educated.
I've had V8's and Turbo's, none of which had Roler Rockers. The sound like they are slightly out of adjustment. At high rpm they really have a clatter up. My questions are: * Is is it normal for them to make a noise? * At what intervals do they need adjusting? * With 100,000k's on it should I use slightly heavier oil? Any and info appreciated!

Of all of the ones that come into work there seems to be a bit of noise from them. I was driving the same vehicle as yours today, it has done 55000km and it seems to be a bit rattly. I have a series 1 XR8, have fitted Crane roller rockers and there is a different sound from the engine, sort of like a roller chain. Another XR8 I see regularly has over 165000km is quite rattly. There is no adjustment on the rockers Ford used (Yella Terra), maybe you can check the preload on the lifters and maybe remove the lifters and give them a clean.

As far as Im aware there is no actual adjustment required (certainly not one listed in any Ford service manuals anyway, either owner or dealer). I wouldnt worry about them, only time youd need to look at it is if you were doing a cam swap etc.
The 200 and 220's are a "noisy" engine compared to your I6's etc, bit of a rattle etc out of them is normal. Gives it character :hihi: And 100,000 is only just run in for a Windsor, no need to change to a heavier grade oil unless youre noticing an increase in consumption.

Thanks guys, sound like it is just a characteristic of these engines, so nothing to worry about! :
