extractors, pacemakers, cold air induction, new ems (wolf 3d) is a good one, good tune from a reputable dyno, decent wheels and of course tyres, maybe an upgrade on the brakes or at least the brake pads as they are a little doughy stock and a set of performance pads will make a huge difference in stopping power.
depends on how much you know yourself before offering advice on how to fit it, what are your expectations of it? what kinda power do you want to achieve? is it your daily driver or is it track only? ask yourself all these then let me know and i can try to help.

It is my everyday car so don't want to go over the top just want to start out small and simple and then maybe move up from there. Allready got the 18" mags i think there 225 60 series. So was thinking about extractors anyway and looking for a few more quick tips from there

honestly, if you can afford to..... trade her in on a BA, i did what you are thinking with my AU.
from this to this. all up costing me over 8 grand. I did interior wheels bodykit, respray, exhaust CAI and was gathering parts for a turbo conversion, in the end i ended up trading up toa BA fairmont ghia that went like a bat out of hell after mods. My advice, don't waste your money and time on an AU. |

I dont think they're 225/60R18s unless your driving a 4WD. They would be 40 series rubber.
What sort of stuff do you want to do? Extractors are good for a few more kw, so is a CAI, or even just a snorkle change. If you just want to keep it simple put on a Tickford snorkle and put in a K&N or BMC panel filter. You should notice a bit more drivibility although don't expect big power gains. Otherwise try a Bluepower or G&D aftermarket CAI, although I'm not sure what's available for AU 6s.

correct in accordance to the above posts that i didnt mention is that whatever you do to the AU they depreciate so quickly whereas as sfr rob says trade it in on a slightly newer model then mod the christ out of it.
a) the car will be worth more b) it will run better c)it wont look as ugly as a AU :

Apart from the 18 inch wheels, maybe drop it a few inches and keep it looking neat.
Its a six cylinder forte, keep it as the daily driver. |

CAI is the complete intake. It would be a new aftermarket airbox and intake pipe to the throttle body, depending on model of car. Thats what I meant when I said CAI.
The snorkle is just the snorkle to the factory airbox.

I can highly reccomend the Jim Mock race series extractors. You will notice alot better torque and power for the street. Some people say they limit power but I have run back to back 14.5's with them so far.

Hey daneightball im in the same boat i own a AUII aswell and my planes were just to keep it simple and tidy because im saving for my first home so not much coin for my toy.
I bought simple things i could install myself like,K&N filter,Tickford intake, fancy spark plugs and leads (NGK),new boot liner, pioneer speakers F/R,bought new DBA rotors and painted brake calipers. the other stuff like full 2.5" Lukey system, new 18" rims and pedders suspension. At the moment im installing door trim lights and chrome gear surround just simple things to tidy it up. Isnt there a Ford dealer in Rocky?Im not sure if that helped or not maybe some ideas for you.Is it going to be a racer, daily driver or a cruiser? Post some piccy's Greg |

The BF's are on the BA's, the VE's are on them both. Whatever Ford next comes up with will be on VE's and then we'll go around again. (Meanwhile Toyota is chugging along quite nicely, lol.) |

The first and cheapest mods to do in order of gains are -
A full tune up including, engine oil with the correct viscosity, oil filter, plugs, leads, fuel filter. Tickford intake snorkel (don't bother with an aftermarket filter at this point). 3" pipe between the airbox lid and the ribbed elbow. Jim Mock race series extractors + 2.5" single exhaust with good mufflers. Aftermarket cam, such as a JMM DEV3 or higher (plus the vernier gear and valve spirngs if required). Perhaps add a pod filter in the standaird airbox at this point, though even that's debatable IMO. Lower diff ratio, such as 3.45 or even 3.7, + LSD center. The above mods, if you do it all yourself would only cost approx $2500, and you'll have a car which will run easy mid 14's, and on a good day very low 14's. Rick.

I think do your home work wisely to get the best results. For example. My car is stock with the exception of headers and Exhaust and a Tickford Snorkel. No great mods. Can has 93,000 on the clock. The best time I ran down the quarter was 16.09. Fairly slow to what most AU 6's can get. I think all the bling on my car has weighed it down a bit and made it slower. Not sure, but I know for me, the onely way to make my car faster is to strap on a Supercharger, Turbo, or trade up to a V8.

Why is it every time someone asks how to mod their AU some idiot says buy a BA. Some of us actually like the AU and don't want a BA. Some of us don't want to go out and buy a BA turbo as they are like A***holes "everyone has one"
Did he ask what car should he buy? No! Did he ask are BAs better? No! Did he ask how to mod my AU? Yes! If you love the BA so much why are you hanging around the AU forum? This is a section for AU owners to exchange ideas for the AU falcon not for idiots to tell us the AU is no good and that we should all buy BAs. I am in the process of doing a lot of work on my AU including a SC and when finished will stand out from the crowd. It will not be like every other car driving past and that is the point some of you fail to grasp. If your intention is to sell after you mod you will loose heaps but I intend to hang onto my AU. Your post is off topic and does not belong in this thread. If I seem to be “going on” it’s because this happens every time someone asks the question “ what should I do to my AU. You people just don’t listen : Quote:
