hey guys...
i've done a bit of a search and can't find anything directly related to what this problem is... i did get a little info tho... basically the problem i am having is that the fans are either not working.. or are running slow... and the car seems to run hot (well hotter then usual)... i used to be able to hear the fans roar quite loudly.. particularly with the air con running... but now.. i can barely hear them.... the car used to run at around 88 degrees or so... now it's constantly reading at 95... even on a cool night... is this a case of the fans are kangaroo edward?... and i need a new set?.. or could there be some other kind of fault inthe system... i did have a truck lose a bunch of stuff like plastic and styrofoam off the back which happened to hit my car... as i couldn't swerve left.. or right.. or brake too suddenly coz of traffic... so i'm hoping that hasn't caused problems.... that was about 2 or 3 weeks ago... and i think the problem has only started around that time.... i've also been having probs with the air con... but that should be fixed soon with a new compressor as the old one was leaking... any help or idea would be great.. even just a direction for me to go for more research.... thanks guys Trent |

Is it getting hotter when idling????
Or while on the move???? One test to make sure they kick up to high-speed is turn the A/C on fan speed 4 ... you should hear them roar ... and feel them really push air underbonnet. You may have a relay stuffed (as there are 3 relays that control fan speeds for different conditions.) I had one of my fans slowly die on me ... I could stop it spinning with my hand when it was on. Ozeparts sells complete fan assemblies for $160 from memory. First thing though ... get an auto sparky to check out the relays ... and then check the fan motors.

yeh as mechan1k said most common is the relays iv have changed a few in my time as a motor mech.
If you have another Au swap the relays when engine is hot. |

Sounds like one of the relays has gone bung ... if you can hear the fans it will be on low ... but when it gets warm it should switch to high speed (also force high fan speed with AC on 4 like i mentoned) .. if it does it usually means the relay has crapped itself.
will dig up a bit of info for you as I went through this a little while ago myself. I also had a mod done so that when i turn A/C on (regardless of fan speed) my thermos lock into high-speed mode ... it really helps on the hotter days in traffic when loaded up.
