Righto heres the deal-the exhaust sounds cr@p!
It's way too quiet and every now and then it gets a really bad drone when accelerating. I have Pacies, a 2.5inch system with a centre muffler and a rear resonator. The centre muffler has a massive dent in it after my mrs bottemed out. I was playing around with it and I unbolted the exhaust after the diff (before the rear resonator) and it sounded awesome with a really nice idle. What was worrying though was that when giving it a rev it blows a heck of a lot of fuel out the back. So anyways you reckon I could get away with removing the rear resonator and just running straight pipe?? |

Not a problem at all, you should still have enough backpressure for the car to run alright. That was my first mod to all my Au's lol

Hey, could you both discuss a little more about what is involved for this? I am interested in changing my car to have more of a growl compared to what it has now. It sounds like this is the way to go.

Sorry to hi-jack.
I'm having similar problems right now. I bought a 2.5" redback with rear res because i didn't want it to be too loud, but still have a nice deep note. Only problem is it is only a little deeper than stock and the sound of the engine/fan assembly is louder than the exhaust note when i give it to it at idle (whining sound) and the rattle of my boot/sub is louder if i have it going. I'd replace the rear half of the exhaust with the straight pipe but i've only had it for about 2 weeks and driven it for about an hour total. Can someone tell me if i wait for it to carbon up, will the sound deepen and louden so that i can tell there is a difference over stock. It'd put my mind at ease ![]() |

Well I got thr rear muffler taken off and it sounds awesome!!!!
It's got a nice crackle at idle, a nice burble at light throttle and screams like a V8 supercar when you plant it. Everyone reckons it sounds like a V8. I spent all yesterday driving around would see a ricer and would give it a bit of boot and they would give me the dirtiest look ![]() |

You could always do what I did and test out how it's going to sound by crawling under the car and unbolting the exhaust at the diff and starting it up. I'll see if i can get a good video |

I installed the current system myself. Never done any welding before. What's a rough price you're looking at for a hot dog and getting the res cut off the pipe and have the hot dog put in its place?

I removed the rear muffler and went for a drive. Doesn't sound too bad at general driving but once you open it up it really roars and sounds quite meaty. It's got the growl I want but I think I need something for the drone at lower revs so I will think about that. I'm glad it doesn't roar until I really push it though.
