i recently put a set of pacemaker extractors in my au2 xr8 and the car is a bit of a pig to drive. idle is very rough and takes a few minutes to get to a stable rev. sometimes it stalls beacause the revs gets way too low. its hard to drive and i am conscerned if this is doing damage to the engine. does anyone know what the problem is and how i can fix it. i am probably going to get a tune in the next couple of weeks.
thanks

Check your oxygen sensors, reset the computer overnite and see how that goes.

Installation of headers makes the ecu run the car richer. I think the ego sensors and ecu cant cope with the change. I reckon your spark plugs are black and so is your tail pipe. If I am wrong on this then your ego sensor wires may have not been recconected.Check the plugs connectors.

just checked the plugs and it seems to be pretty black. i replaced them with iridiums 1000ks ago and thy look like there almost due for a change. does this mean a tune will fix this problem. i have plans on gettin a tune in 2 weeks im just waiting on the livewire to be released

Is the MAF plugged in? If it's not, it will run really rich and won't rev much at all.

It may just be the ecu relearning as your battery would have been disconnected for welding, after a week or so of driving it should come good

i don't think thats it. i was driving it for a few days and it was constantly running rough. There were no signs of it getting better. The only causes that i can think of is that its running rich and needs a tune or the oxygen sensors arent working properly.

maybe one of your plugs got bumped during the install and possibly snapped one or put a crack through one? Just a thought.

have ya made sure you didn't knock any of your leads off, or melted them with the extractors on?

ive had the same problem with both my au's when i put pacemaker extractors on. apparently the gaskets they put on are for e7 head cars and therefore very restrictive, ive had mine changed to the proper gt40 gaskets and now it idles normally and goes a heep better too
