Call 13FORD, give them the VIN and they can look it up. Dont know how many years back they keep records for though.

good luck though, most of the time the guys there wouldnt know what the option codes meant, and now that they're charging $100 for a verification letter, they wont release anything unless you have proof of ownership, ie: pay the $100

I know what you mean, when I bought my TE50 I wrote to Ford and they sent me a letter with all the details but for some reason said it came with 15" steel rims :

Well the thing is that it probably did come from Ford like that. That is until it went across the road to Tickford and got all the good bits added.

yea, mine is listed as having 14 or 15" with 195's, i put it down to having the sprint alloys fitted by tickford

as for ID'ing cars, beat this

friend of mine bought an EB GT a lil while back, and ford told him he had a fairmont ghia, went through all the codes, and couldnt confirm that he had a GT despite the GT sprcific engine and options codes

So correct me if I am wrong, but if you wanted to identify a Tickford built vehicle, wouldn't you seek verification from Tickford (Prodrive) and not Ford?

P.S. I realise that the original topic isn't about Tickford vehicles.

You make sense, and probably explains why that other guy's car comes up as a Fairmont Ghia, not a GT, as The GTs were based on a Fairmont Ghia and would've left the factory as one before going over to Tickford to morph into a GT

Your biggest issue there would be that you dont know who's got all of Tickford's old records of what they built etc. Going on their form with other stuff they probably got turfed when FPV came in :.

Exactly right.

But as Austin said, who knows what happened to all of Tickfords records.

I bet if someone rang FPV and asked for some info about Tickford their response would be, "Tickford? What's that?"
