Hi guys,
Just looking to get your opinion on an issue that has arisen with my 2006 LX Ford Focus. A few different passengers have passed comment on the windscreen looking strange and out of focus. I didn't understand what they meant until I was the passenger myself one day! It actually looks like it is 'bi-focal'! If you look out of the top of the windscreen and then look out of the bottom the view is distorted from one view to the other. You can't see it when you are in the drivers seat, only when you are in the passenger seat. So I took it to my local dealer (or steeler as some of you may prefer) and they told me that the mechanic checked it out and it is most definitely distorted. However, it is the shape of the windscreen in the Focus as he checked four others and they are all the same. So my question to you is, have you noticed this in your Focus and is this normal? Or are they just trying to get out of fixing it. Note: There is no damage to the windscreen at all. The car has about 15,000km on it. Thanks!!! |

Check it yourself with another folk-*** and see. Alternatively, ensure you have free windscreen replacement on your insurance and get a brick in a towel, and get a new windscreen.

My 2007 rear window is bi focal too. The top third flattens the cars noticably compared to the rest. It is even all the way across in the effect.
Anyone else have this problem. I may complain about it.but I don't trust em putting in a new one and not creating leaks. It is one of those things that I haven't got worked up about, but I would if it was the windscreen. |

Stop hauling free-loading passengers around. Problem solved.

Just a theory, could it be a part of the laminating process when the screen is manufactured?

Ok, so my next question is:
Just because it is common does it make it right? Shouldn't they replace it under warranty? That's like saying, "Brake shudder in BA Falcons are common so we won't fix it". I don't think so... |

Is it bi-focal left to right or up to down. Perhaps its a safety feature, when the driver looks across to that side of the windscreen, they have more visibility "around" the pillar?
