I need to remove my headunit to take it to Pioneer so they can fix a blown internal fuse.....simple enough to remove it, however...
Just wanted to check a couple of things: (1) I need to disconnect the battery (negative terminal only) first don't I before doing anything??? (2) Once the unit is removed, will the wires be OK to sit there unplugged and exposed by themselves for a couple of days while I drive the car around? They aren't going to short out the whole car if they touch???? Not too sure how to go about this.....any help appreciated! Cheers, Dave.

Probably a good idea to disconnect the battery to save any damages that could occur and yea if the wires are just in a plug they will be fine it's only if the wires are exposed and able to short circuit each other or earth onto the chassis that there would be a problem

to be honest, i wouldn't even bother disconnecting the battery. just unplug it, as above, if it uses the factory harness and no wires are exposed it will be fine

Are you disconnecting the Pioneer harness as well? If so, might be a good idea to tape the constant and accessory power up individually so they don;t arc. If you are just taking the H/U and leaving the harness, you'll be fine.
If you are doing the first option, I would disconnect the battery until you get the wires taped, just to avoid the hassle of having to replace fuses if you accidentally short anything.
