Default How to identify an ex interceptor

Hey guys, if this is a re-post please direct me to right place..

Anyway dad brought home an AU XR8 S1 1998 today and I'm fairly certain its an ex interceptor..

It is white.. looks completely stock apart from a different speedo with 2km increments on it (I think that's what it called) and it goes pretty hard (its definitely faster than stock as i have been in many stock and modified au xr8's) its an auto and it is very responsive when you floor it..
It came from Sydney and the km's are in the high 200,000 range..

Not sure but seems like an interceptor so please give me some advice as what to look out for to identify it..

What do interceptors come with, what mods have been done?

Cheers Guys
Dave

Fine increment speedo, no limiter, not having to push the button on the shifter to from d 3 or 2 to put it in first are the main indicators.

look in the boot were the boot light is, useally a extra plug and holes were the old fluro light is, and check behind the front number plate, should be a hole from the old breatho light switch, ( cops can park on the side of the road and flick the switch and all the span lights come on )( saves jumpin in the car )

Cop cars don't have any "extra special" mods to make them go faster over any other production car from the factory. The reason why the go better than others is because they have been thrashed from the first turn of the key.

99% of the time that is absolutely true. We had several ex-cop cars as cabs and they went better than the other ones, only due to the fact that they were expected to go hard from day 1. They weren't modified in any way except for the usual interior bits as mentioned here. The 'cop chip' is an absolute myth invented by VL bogans.

The reason why i said 99% is because we did have one ex-cop EL sedan that was different to the rest. It had a shaved head and ran higher compression amongst other things. Back in the days when factory V8's were <200kw, the cabbies used to refer to the cab as 'the V8 beater'. And they weren't lying, that car was seriously quick.

I'd imagine you'd contract swine flu if you had one.

Hi guys thanks for the help.. Im pretty certain that is an ex-interceptor as it has the interior light switch on the dash and it does smell horrible in there lol..

The windows are tinted very dark (illegal) and it only has one weather shield on the drivers side, don't know if that makes a difference but thought id let ya know..

It doesn't have holes in the dash and centre console though as someone mention
