I've been doing a bit of research into lowering my Ghia as it currently sits like there is something wedged firmly up its tailpipe. Also handles like a pig around roundabouts etc. The back is a good 80mm off wheel however the front is only 40 or so.
I have been told that I need shortened shocks however upon browsing the King Springs website (im working on a budget here) it said that the IRS model did NOT need to have shortened shocks. I was looking at SSL (50-70mm) for the rear and L's (20-40mm) on the front to eventhings out. Any advice would be appreciated  |

you don't NEED to get shortened shocks, but if you stay with the stock ones or standard height ones, their lifespan will be reduced...
shortened shocks are more suitable for lowered springs...

an estimate of lifespan? depends how rooted the current ones are. how many k's on the clock and do you think they are the originals? (they'll be grey-black and have the ford logo imprinted on them if they're original).

I've got the stock shocks with low's all round. Not sure about how long they'll last but I've had them on for about a year and a half. Ride quality sucks though, very bumpy. When I can get enough cash together (and the stock shocks are rooted enough :P) I'll put in some that are better suited and hopefully get a better feeling ride.
