Default AU I Fuel sender issues

Hi all,
I recently changed my fuel pump and sender in my car, and now everytime i turn my car on and off, the gauge and DTE always read as full, even if I know there isn't that much fuel in there. The gauge and DTE go down while I'm driving, then I can turn my car off when I get to my destination, turn it back on again, and it's back up.

My question is, do you think it's the sender or something else?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the wires may be crossed.

I dont know how the wires could be crossed. All i did when i changed it was remove the whole unit and replace it with another whole one i bought. Only thing is its a second hand one from a wreckers. It came with a 3 month warranty and its from a later series. Was there any difference between the sender from different series.

Not certain as to a different sender in each series. Try putting the car in diagnostics mode and checking the dte function there. Might be the fuel level sensor?

In diagnostic mode, the instant fuel level sits about right, at 23L. But the buffered sits anywhere between 40L and 70L.

ALL IS GOOD PEOPLE. I managed to solve the problem. I ripped the old fuel pump out in record time (30min) lol, took it back down to where I got it, got it replaced, fitted the new one, reset the ECU, and presto. IT WORKS. I think it might have been the fuel sender was a bit dodgy. But thanks to all who posted. I'm sure you will be hearing from me again.

Glad to hear it's fixed.

Just a note, when I switch the car off and DTE is 30 or less a lot of the time the gauge will show full next time I start it and the trip computer will resume ave/100. Then when I fill it takes ages to read full once going again. Apart from that it's very accurate. DTE has never caught me out on the road.
