Morning all,
Having failed to find info on this in a search, I was wondering if those damn 20 dollar iridiums are necessary on my 220. Or can I use the non iridium equivalents? A part number would be great. Cheers. |

I have the NGK Irridiums in mine, they work fine but were very dear i think my set of 8 cost something like 120, but i think i got a good deal ive seen them on ebay for more than what i payed. The standard ford plug ain't much cheaper, in fact i think they were dearer! If money is the issue go with them cheaper ones.

Ive used both in my 220 and can't tell any difference. Iridiums may last longer but at $4 each for the NGK BPR5EFS-13 can't go wrong imo.

I do believe I ran them in the last XR8 220 I had with no dramas, I just couldnt remember the price they were. but if its 50 for 8 well thatll suit me. What is their life expectancy?

As CONGO said earlier, Use BPR5EFS-13. There has been a few threads on this before. I followed RG's advice as have many others. You won't go wrong. If you are still unsure, ring NGK. I'm pretty sure they will tell you the same thing.

Silly people ![]() BPR5EFS-13 is the correct part and they should last about 20-30k I would expect. Not that I'm actually running them atm ![]()

For whoever asked about the Price on the TR55IX they were about $120 for all eight
and i didn't even gap them and haven't had a problem they looked to all be at the same gap size as though they had been gap'd from the factory and the boxes were in good shape so i trusted that hadn't taken a hit or drop. Also though i didn't have a Gap tool! |

BPR5EFS or BPR5EF
Both of these plugs are THE SAME REACH against (AU) TR55IX Iridium EFS non-grooved centre electrode , EF grooved centre electrode ****** As for the BPR5FS these are 6.3mm SHORTER in REACH against (AU) TR55IX Iridium Hope this is of some help

Just FYI, please DO NOT try to gap fine tipped (Platinum, Iridium) spark plugs. Very easy to damage the tip. All fine tip plugs come gapped from the factory.
