Has anybody got one of these?
I remember reading up about these a while ago, but just saw it again and it's got me thinking.... Supposed to help increase fuel economy, power & torque by lowering the air temp in the engine? Would be interested to hear everybody's thoughts on this... $130 for the insulator plus $15 shipping Australia-wide ($12 shipping in Victoria) http://www.maceengineering.com.au/ep...Products/MI604 Quote:

i put the top and bottom in an ecotec engine and was suprised to find a noticable increase power and torque. Wasnt a jaw dropping increase like the site makes it out to be but you definatly did notice it. So when i can cbf'd changng my inlet manifold gasket i will def put them in

Known as a phenolic spacer - quite often fitted to Windsors (I have one on mine), and they tend to help ease heat soak from engine to inlet manifold. I doubt they'd result in everything that's claimed, but for the price, it can't hurt.

You've got this huge volume of air rushing in, and its going to get hot and expand from being in a hot manifold for a millisecond or two? Maybe.....
I wonder how often the small performance increase comes from replacing a worn out leaking inlet manifold gasket? |
